- Improve your life with positive affirmations. As you learn to control your thoughts and feelings, start using positive affirmations. Your inner dialogue and self-talk are streams of affirmations that help you respond and react to everyday life. Short, positive statements can challenge your negative beliefs and lessen your anxiety.

- Stay active throughout the day. Staying busy keeps your mind off your anxiety, stress, and unhappiness. Inactivity or idleness encourages you to think about your worries, but it will not make them go away. Exercising your mind or body can help you overcome anxiety.
- Set a goal and work to accomplish it. Goal-setting is great suggestion for how to overcome anxiety. Working toward that goal redirects your thoughts and feelings, away from your worries and on to something constructive and positive. Be realistic and set an attainable goal, then work daily to achieve it.

- Talk to someone you trust. Thinking about your anxieties and fears will grow and strengthen them. But talking about them with someone you trust may alleviate them, or put them into proper perspective. If you talk about your anxieties objectively rather than subjectively, with a sincere desire to drive them away, they will lose their grip or intensity.
